As many of you know I lost my gorgeous border collie, Twiglet, at the end of March 2008. I never thought I would have another border collie, but myself and Matt felt there was something missing in our house. Our 2 bearded collies, Harry and Texas, also seemed a little 'flat' in mood. We were all grieving and still are.

Matt said he wanted another border collie but I was very reluctant. I didn't want anyone to think I was 'replacing' Twiglet - it wouldn't be possible to replace her anyway, but I also didn't want another black and white collie around the house because it would be a constant reminder of her.

We saw a litter of border collies advertised in a nearby town so decided to go and have a look. There we saw a gorgeous tri-colour merle girl - her coat colour is unusual and she also has 1 eye that is part brown and part blue, this comes from the blue merle colouring. Within minutes of being with her we could see just how intelligent and clever she was. We both fell head over heels in love with her. We went back a week later to collect our new puppy - May 2008.

Katy has settled in very well. She enjoys holidays in our caravan, loves being around the hens and rabbits. Texas loves playing with her - they are only 5 months apart in age so they get on very well. Harry tolerates her as long as she isn't annoying him - but he is definately warming to her!

Katy has cheered me up no end. She is the best thing to have come from losing Twiglet. I will never forget about Twiglet, but it is time to move on and concentrate on Harry, Texas and Katy.
